Religious Education in England

Hello!

I realized I have mentioned RE (Religious Education) in the past, but may not have explained it.

In schools here in England, RE is a subject. This is not just for faith schools. RE goes over a different religion each term (3 terms a year, so they will revisit religions over the years) by giving an {unbiased if possible} overview of the faith.

I am teaching all over the place at my lovely school, and on Tuesdays I teach RE to Year 3 for an hour (Year 3 is Second Grade age). The Autumn term I taught Judaism and this term is Buddhism. They look at artifacts, books, watch video clips, etc.

Crazy huh?

Here are a few pieces of their work-the last one is my favorite : )

Journal ideas

Hi everyone! I hope you've had a good week! I'm sooooo happy this week is finished! We have a week off for the half term break and it has come at a perfect time. As I'm covering the English Coordinator, I was in charge of Book Week this week. Wowza.

Our theme was Fables, complete with quizzes, workshops with a story teller, costume day, etc. I am so glad it's finished! Today I dressed up as Tortoise (from Tortoise and the Hare), which my husband helped me make out of a parachute, backpack, fabric scraps, workout clothes and racing bib : ) I hope to find some pictures next week.  Another piece of good news is that there may be a job for me at this lovely school next year!!

Anyway, here's some journal ideas that I wanted to share-have a great weekend!!
